01Scope

Scope and questions

This thematic series comes from the NXS-GRX (canonical data, provenance and risk) mechanism (Nexus, DRR, DRF and DRI architecture).

  1. Where would prevention reduce the most risk?
  2. Which preparedness gaps are largest?
  3. How is each country tracking against Sendai targets?
02Construction

Domain indices to the series index

The series index is the expert-weighted geometric mean of its domain indices, with the intervals and class rule of the methodology.

List
  1. Multi-hazard exposure
Domain index · IDX · HAZ
INFORM-style 0-10 index of natural-hazard exposure: the geophysical, flood and coastal, storm and climatological sub-indices plus the multi-hazard population share, combined by a geometric mean of complements (10 minus each score) so that one severe hazard is not averaged away.
  2. Lack of coping capacity
Domain index · IDX · CRS
Index on a 0-10 scale of the absence of DRR governance, early warning, risk financing and response capacity (each inverted), together with transport and digital connectivity deficits; higher means less able to cope.
  3. Infrastructure fragility
Domain index · IDX · INF
Index of transport and digital connectivity deficits, utility fragility, energy supply unreliability and realised disruption impact on a 0-10 scale, higher meaning more fragile.
  4. Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) index
    Series index · SERIES · TH-02
Hazard, exposure, vulnerability, capacity, preparedness, redundancy and recovery readings for planning and learning, aligned to the Sendai Framework targets.
  5. Country readings
    Output · OUTPUT · 195 profiles
Published with intervals and classes when the edition is released.
  6. Regional readings
    Output · OUTPUT · 5 regions
